In yet another boost for tourism, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways (QA) have extended the stopover package for transit passengers until December 31, 2017, following the excellent results from the first phase of the campaign.
The offer, part of a broader '+Qatar campaign', was initially planned to run from May until the end of the summer this year.
According to Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at QTA Rashed al Qurese, the 100,000th stopover customer will be welcomed this month, demonstrating its popularity.
"We are delighted to extend the +Qatar offer to QA passengers. Over the past eight months, we have seen the number of leisure visitors, who are also stopover visitors, almost double, showing that our strategy to promote Qatar as a stopover destination is on track," said Qurese.
"We have also seen the numbers of visitors from Europe and the Americas increasing over the past period, demonstrating the impact of our efforts to diversify Qatar's visitor-source markets. In the coming period, the +Qatar campaign will be geared towards Australian, African and European travellers," he noted.
+Qatar campaign aims to encourage travellers to add Doha to their holiday programmes by stopping in Qatar, giving them a unique opportunity to explore the country, enjoy free stay at luxury hotels and have free transit visas.
In the first phase, Qatar witnessed 34 percent increase in the number of stopover visitors over same period in 2016.
For his part, Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Ehab Amin said,"At Qatar Airways, we are always looking for ways to ensure that our passengers have a memorable experience, both on the ground and in the sky."
He noted that through this exclusive offer, the stopover passengers will have the opportunity to add Qatar to their travel plans, stay at some of Doha's finest hotels and enjoy the country's renowned hospitality.
Passengers can select from hotels, including The Four Seasons, Marriott Marquis, Radisson Blu and Oryx Rotana. The city tours, organised by Discover Qatar, will offer passengers the opportunity to explore Doha and experience desert safari adventures or a dinner cruise aboard a traditional dhow, giving visitors a taste of Qatar's authentic hospitality.
To be eligible for this offer, passengers simply need to book their flights on Qatar Airways (QA) website, select 'multi-city' and choose their hotel once they receive their flight confirmation.
This ground-breaking offer is available for all QA passengers, both Premium and Economy, demonstrating the airlines commitment to its brand ethos of 'Going Places Together'. To maximise their time in Qatar, visitors can explore additional stopover packages offered by Discover Qatar
